I have very few physical copies of books with me (for now). I relocated for school and was unable to bring my collection with me 😦
What I do have, however, are school textbooks. So I’m going to spell whatever word I can with them.
And that word is CAD.
On a side note, one our guest posters is writing very honestly about her journey with her first novel. Read as she flounders in the deepest pits of despair, interspersed with hilarious photos and comic strips — here
This challenge was a lot of fun. It took some time for me to think up a cover that had a picture I related specifically to a book. I settled on the Dolphins of Pern by Anne McCaffrey (a book and series I recommend if you haven’t read it!). The original cover is first and my recreation is on the right. I don’t have any colored markers or pencils at the moment, so I apologize for the lack of color.
Disclaimer: I am not an artist. People are hard to draw.
Edit: I realized I haven’t updated on where I am in reading! I’m about 50pgs away from the end of the Assassin’s Apprentice (Robin Hobb). It is an incredible book! I highly recommend it. I hope to finish the book tonight so I can purchase the second novel and catch up to Cya.
For this sentence I used the following books:
A Tale of Two Cities – Charles Dickens
Maelstrom – Peter Watts
His Last Bow – Arthur Conan Doyle
Accelerando – Charles Stross
Anna Karenina – Leo Tolstoy
Crime and Punishment – Fyodor Dostoyevsky
White Fang – Jack London
“It was the day I find Manfred’s happy families on a few dark spruce.”
This was surprisingly difficult to accomplish with the books I had on hand! Good luck to everyone participating!
I found this challenge a bit difficult because I have yet to read much of my bout of books choice and know very little about it (and I take playlist creation very seriously OTL ). So from my best efforts, at about 50pgs in to the Assassin’s Apprentice, this is my playlist:
1. Billy Talent – River Below
2. Colour Revolt – Change Your Face or Change Your Name
3. The National – Fake Empire
4. Odesza – How Did I Get Here
5. Cursive – The Night I Lost the Will to Fight
Hope everyone else is doing well with their challenges!
Cya and I will be participating in Bout of Books again! We’re going to be reading Assassin’s Apprentice: The Farseer Trilogy by Robin Hobb (and if I manage to finish the book early – I have no doubt that Cya will – we’ll continue with Books 2 and 3). Looking forward to it!
The Bout of Books read-a-thon is organized by Amanda @ On a Book Bender and Kelly @ Reading the Paranormal. It is a week long read-a-thon that begins 12:01am Monday, August 18th and runs through Sunday, August 24th in whatever time zone you are in. Bout of Books is low-pressure, and the only reading competition is between you and your usual number of books read in a week. There are challenges, giveaways, and a grand prize, but all of these are completely optional.
